Support Group Hosted: Collaborative Problem Solving

Bruce Pickett, LCSW, Director of Counseling Services at Advent Group Ministries will be presenting a Parent Training on Collaborative Problem Solving. Collaborative Problem Solving is a method of communicating with children and teens developed by Ross Greene and Stuart Ablon that is easy to learn. It addresses adult expectations and also teaches kids new skills in order to avoid tantrums. Bruce and his wife, Karen, have found the approach to be very helpful leading to better results and more satisfying conversations (when they remember to use it!) with their adoptive teen children. Bruce has taught Collaborative Problem Solving to parents and also to clinicians who work in schools and adolescent residential substance abuse treatment programs.
