April 10, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Supporting Your Foster or Adopted Child’s Loss, Grief and Need for Control
Registration available here soon!
This training will focus on understanding 3 of the 7 Core Issues of Adoption: loss, grief and need for control. It will explain why these are core issues for most foster and adopted youth, how they show up in behaviors, and how caregivers can support children in processing their loss and grief and understand their need for control. Participants will understand how these core issues present across different stages of development, from newborns to teens and how they can be triggered by life events and milestones. Trainer will use a trauma informed and IPNB (Interpersonal Neurobiology) lens in her presentation.
Training will include parenting tips, interventions and time for Question & Answer.
Ledette Gambini, M.S. is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience working with families who are currently fostering a child or have built their family through adoption. She uses a trauma informed and neurodevelopmental lens in all of her work, and understands how in utero and early developmental trauma affect children in many areas of their life. As a former foster parent and now an adoptive mom, she further understands how close relationships are created through a sense of safety and trust. Indeed, while adoption can be complex for all members of the adoption triad, Ledette is passionate about supporting adoptive parents in creating close, safe and loving relationships with their children.
