Create a New Normal & Felt Safety for Foster/ Adoptive Families
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Laura Beth DeHority, LMFT is a therapist and an adoptive Mother whose high needs children are now young adults. Her training offers foster and adoptive parents skills and strategies to support high needs children and perform self care while moving into the new normal. Explore ways to help children who have experienced trauma, to attach and embrace the new normal changes with curiosity and meaning while appropriately grieving what has passed. After a year of learning to fear and question what is safe, how do we find safety? Join us and take a deep dive with specific tools and strategies for redefining felt safety for your entire family and keeping forward movement to the new normal.
Let’s face it. No matter what is happening for you right now, we are all living in a world of uncertainty. A world that is caught between what was and what will be. For most, that means holding some tension between missing the way things were in the past and doing our best to maintain patient endurance with hope for a new normal that has many of the trappings of the familiarity of the way things used to be with a new hope for safety and greater certainty.
In order to navigate this uncertain place, we must ask ourselves how to work through emotions such as fear, sadness, defensiveness and ongoing resolved grief brought on by isolation, confusion, overwhelm and disappointment of this current pandemic season? How do we avoid either getting too caught up in our thoughts that bring us down or make us anxious? Or possibly our thoughts cause retreat into toxic positivity in order to bypass the experience of emotional pain?
What are the solutions that help us avoid getting stuck? Creativity. Curiosity. Serving Others. How can we build safe, sturdy new bridges between what was and the future?
Please join us to look at how we can help ourselves and our kids by using effective tools to acknowledge feelings, process the ongoing grief, accept how things can work out, focus on the present, establish healthy habits or boundaries and set realistic expectations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”10336″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”12425″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIpf-2gqTMpGNS-66ZZ8zFd5k2MEGSKY6eV”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
