Positive Skills to Overcome Child Behavior Problems
January 14 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
We’re excited our Livermore Support Group at Cornerstone is hosting an in person training. Dinner is provided from 5:00-5:30 and the training will be from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Free childcare is provided! Advance registration is needed for all adults and children attending. If you or your children have any dietary restrictions, please bring your own meal and snacks.
Training Description:
Based on the Florida Foster Parent Program, “Parenting Tools for Positive Behavior Change,” we will review a dozen positive parenting tools/techniques that reduce problem behavior, promote good behavior, and strengthen the parent/child relationship. These fundamental skills can be adapted to all ages of children. Some of the skills include positive home environment, positive reinforcement, your attention, purposeful or planned ignoring, requests, expectations, and empathy. We will also briefly cover appropriate use of punishment and risks.
Learning outcomes:
1. You will understand how your attention increases and decreases child behavior and apply that to parenting challenges.
2. You will be able to clearly tell your child what you expect them to do and provide appropriate motivation as needed.
3. You will be able to use the First-Then principle to motivate appropriate child behavior and reduce arguing and complaining
