Monthly: How to help your child develop positive habits (to increase their well-being and yours!)
October 20, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”10422″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This training will be led by Donna Erickson. Donna has been a Foster Parent Trainer with the Foster and Kinship Care Education Program of the Department of Family and Children Services in Santa Clara County for the past 30 years. Being a former foster child herself enables her to also speak from a place of personal experience.
Adoptive, foster, and kinship children often experience physical and emotional deficits. These deficits can show up in the child as challenging behaviors. Based on the most current research, this training will go over simple approaches that will help caregivers manage and redirect these behaviors. Topics will include:
- Looking at stress differently
- How the ‘Cognitive Triangle’ affects behavior
- Overcoming resistance to change
- Memories/past experiencesÂ
- Reframing/rewiring/re-doing[two_third]
Registration is free but required for all attendees. Register by filling out the form below by Sunday, October 13th. If you would like to attend but it is past the registration deadline, contact rachel@helponechild.org to inquire if there is still space available. We are looking forward to seeing you on the 20th!
