Monthly: Regulating Ourselves As We Regulate Our Children
July 28, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
As adoptive, foster, and kinship parents, you open up your home and your heart to children who have been exposed to a variety of traumas. As guardians, it is important to help our children learn to regulate, but we don’t always talk about how their dysregulation can impact us! Dr. Sarah Hill, PsyD will show us how to focus on learning to recognize and manage our own distress as we engage in the process of developing safe, secure relationships with our children. She will also talk about the impact of trauma on attachment and how developing a secure attachment (earned security) can help to buffer the impact of past and present trauma.
Childcare RSVP deadline is 5PM on Sunday, July 21st. If you would like to request childcare past the deadline, please contact rachel@helponechild.org to inquire if there might be any available space for your child.
This training will take place in the KidZone building in room 307 (third floor) on the WestGate campus.
