A Group for Adoptive, Foster and Kinship Youth

Summer 2023 5-Week Session

June 26 thru July 31, 2023

(No meeting July 3rd)

MEETING DATES: 6/26, 7/10, 7/17/7/24, & 7/31
Mondays 4:00PM – 5:00PM PST
FREE / Space is limited

Facilitator: Marlina Selva, Psy.D. (brief bio below)

Registration is on a first come, first served basis and space is limited to keep the group small. Any registered teen between the ages of 13-19 years old who gets a spot in the group is encouraged to start and complete the entire session. If you have a 12 year old seeking this and ready, inquire if there’s space. Participants are foster, adoptive or kinship placed.

Topics will be based on the needs of the group and may include, but are not limited to: school adjustment, managing big emotions, validation, identity, stress, friendships, peer pressure, social media, self-acceptance, creativity, pursuing dreams, goals, core issues of adoption, etc.

Sessions are seasonal! Please reach out to Cristin Winn Reyes at cristin@helponechild.org with any questions or concerns. An email with the zoom registration and joining details will serve as a confirmation for participation in the group for each registered youth. At the end of the session, upon completion of an online group evaluation, a $25 gift is gifted for participation and feedback!

Dr. Marlina Selva is the facilitator for the NEW Teen Support Group for foster, former foster, adopted, or kinship placed adolescents age 13-19 years old.

Dr. Selva helps adolescents and families work through difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, school adjustment, attachment, and family conflict. Working with and connecting with adolescents is one of her many talents and her partnership with Help One Child began after an introduction from Dr. Don Williams, co-founder of our Support Groups back in 1999.
