Lois Raap: Making Sense of the IEP

Lois Raap, MA Ed, JD

Making Sense of the IEP

How to navigate an Independent Education Plan

Have you been struggling to get the school’s attention? Do you wish you had a better understanding of your child’s rights?

Ms. Raap will cover the steps often taken and sometimes legally mandated before an IEP is considered.  As time permits, participants will learn how to:

  • Approach the school and address their concerns
  • Take the right steps to ensure an IEP will be offered if it is necessary
  • Retain needed services
  • Support a child with behavioral issues
  • Handle disciplinary problems within the rights established by an IEP

Contents of the IEP will be discussed in detail with information on what should be included and what necessitates the inclusion of supplemental services.
