The mission of Help One Child is to recruit, train, and support those willing to open their home or provide volunteer services for families and children impacted by foster care and adoption.

Every Church, every person can do something to help from prevention to emancipation.

Finances

Union Church donates the ministry’s corporate offices and use of facilities for programs. Hundreds of volunteers provide many hours of administrative, program, and in-home support. Help One Child is a CA registered 501(c)3 non-profit corporation; a copy of our status letter can be found here.

Church Partners

Across regions and denominations, 56 churches in Northern California have been directly involved in supporting our mission this fiscal year through in-service appeals, bulletin or e-notices of ministry events and trainings, and/or financial support.

Help One Child and CarePortal

What if we could bring the needs of hurting children and families in your community directly to your church’s attention? What if child welfare workers uncovered the needs and Help One Child gave churches a real-time opportunity to respond?

Answer: We could help prevent child abuse and neglect and dramatically reduce the number of children removed to foster care!

A Growing Church Support Network

Through Support Groups, churches open their doors to families that have opened their homes to adoptive and foster children. Every month, adoptive, foster, and kinship parents are welcomed at five different locations. We are excited to report that this ministry is growing with two new locations this year! Host Churches provide space for the group to meet, volunteers to help with childcare and dinner, and support through relationships.
