Babysitters. Foster parenting is a round-the-clock job. Cleared volunteers are needed to give foster parents a well-deserved break. Baby sitters may volunteer on a regular or as-needed basis; they may serve one family or multiple families; they are always free to say, “No, I am busy.” Sitters may give foster parents a night out, a free Saturday, or a weekend off. Sitting is done in the foster parent’s home or in the volunteer’s home if the home has been checked for safety.
Childcare at Help One Child Classes. Volunteers are needed to care for the children of foster parents coming to the monthly orientations, CPR/First Aid classes, and the support group. Volunteers are also needed during the quarterly parenting classes to help with a structured program for the children. People who enjoy teaching children simple crafts are especially in demand. Transportation Providers. Volunteers are needed to drive foster children to appointments when both foster parents work or when a foster parent needs to be two places at the same time. Special Events Planners/Helpers. Volunteers are needed for the planning, preparation, and execution of the annual Easter egg hunt and Christmas party for foster families. Clerical Workers. Volunteers are needed during the day for occasional help with mailings and to help with telephone contact to churches. Nurses and Doctors are needed for approximately 1 hour each month to help with TB testing and health screenings for volunteers and foster parents. |
Attorneys are needed for occasional support for foster parents’ legal questions, including adoption issues and foster parents’ rights.
Prayer Partners. Volunteers are asked to pray for specific children and family needs, as well as for the Help One Child ministry. Grant Writers and Donors. Counselors are needed occasionally to help foster parents in crisis. Support the Ministry Donate your used items to support Help One Child’s staff in their work to help children. Help One Child is solely supported by tax deductible contributions, church mission pledges, and private foundations. No state or federal funds are received. Funding is needed to underwrite the cost of recruiting, coordinating children’s support services, and family events. Help One Child seeks volunteers with an expertise in grant writing and others interested in networking with church mission groups.
